One way is to add water to a liquid soap at a ratio of roughly 1 part soap to 4 parts water. With this type of recipe, you must use a customized bottle that adds air to your mix when you pump. Bottles that add air to a liquid soap mix to create foaming bath soap are prone to clog, particularly if the mix of water to liquid soap is a little heavy. - Fragrance or essential oil. For our recipe, we used lavender essential oil.
- Unscented pure Castile soap 4 – 5 ounces. We purchased a 4 ounce bar for our recipe.

Directions to create the perfect foaming hand soap:
Step 1. We cut the soap in chunks, but you can grate it if you like.
Step 2. Add soap and 1 cup of boiling water to blender. Set blender setting to whip. Whip until smooth and foamy. Tip: Hold lid of blender or it may try to blow off when you first start whipping.
Step 3. Add 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp sweet almond oil
Step 4. Cool mixture for 15 – 20 minutes
Step 5. Whip cooled mixture again
Step 6. Add cold water to mixture until you bring the volume up to 6 cups.
Step 7. Add 1 tsp pure lavender essential oil (add more if a stronger fragrance is desired). Add colorant drop at a time until you have the color you desire. (We added 10 drops for a light lavender color.)
Step 8. Whip the mixture again.
Step 9. Fill pump dispensers and you’re done.
This foaming hand soap recipe is great for making gifts during the holidays, for birthdays, wedding showers and any special occasion. It’s totally customizable in that you can add your choice of oils, fragrances and colors. AND it makes a wonderful body wash too. I really love how soft my hands feel after using this soap.
NOTE: If the soap is too thick, just add some water and whip again. Sometimes the soap will thicken in the bottle. I suggest adding a little more water (like 1/4 cup or so) from the start.
Now go have fun and relax.
