In the post “Make Your Own Bath Beads,” I gave you a basic recipe for making bath beads. This time we’re going to expand on that and create awesome, festive multicolored bath beads that will lift your spirits and help you get a grip on things when life smacks you around. The festive bath bead recipe is loads of fun to create and makes a delightful gift.
Festive Bath Beads
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Powdered Milk
1/8 cup Powdered Sugar1/8 cup Borax
1/4 cup Orange Blossom Water
3 – 4 drops each of Lavender, vanilla, bergamot and Roman chamomile essential oils.
3 colors of Soap Safe Colorant – Suggested colors include yellow for the bergamot, violet for the lavender, green for Roman chamomile. Leave the vanilla white.
Instructions:
In a large bowl use a wooden spoon to combine the powdered milk, powdered sugar and borax. Stir until evenly blended.
Add about 3/4 of the rose water to form a paste.
Separate into 4 parts.
Add 3 – 4 drops of one essential oil per part.
Mix in a separate colorant to each of the parts leaving the part with vanilla essential oil white. Add colorant one or two drops at a time until the desired color is achieved. Take care not to add too much colorant otherwise the color may tint skin while bathing.
Mix each part well adding the remainder of the rose water as needed to create dough with the consistency of Play-Doh or clay. Roll ½ – 1 teaspoon of the dough to create your bath beads. Place your bath beads on a sheet of waxed paper or aluminum foil. Continue until all the dough is gone. Allow to dry 24 hours and package. Voila, you have created festive bath beads.
Now go have fun and relax.
