Three Awesome Frankincense Essential Oil Recipes

If you read my post on frankincense essential oil, you’ll understand why I’m so excited about this oil that I wanted to post recipes for its use. Click here to read that post first, and then give these recipes a go.

Why frankincense?

Besides all the benefits listed in my post on frankincense essential oil, it’s renowned for its benefits for all skin types. Perhaps its ability to repair DNA might have something to do with that. Given that along with its ability to calm the mind makes it a winner for our fast paced over-stressed society.

Frankincense Diffuser Recipe

Hosley's Set of 4 Glass Diffuser Bottles - 4Hosley’s Set of 4 Glass Diffuser Bottles – 4″ High. Premium Heavy Quality. Ideal for Use with Essential Oils, Hosley Replacement Diffusers & Hosley Reed Sticks, Diy, Crafts
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup Canola Oil, Sweet Almond Oil or Safflower Oil
  • 1 tbsp 100 proof Vodka
  • 10 to 12 Diffuser Reeds
  • 1/4 tsp Lavender Essential Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Lemon Essential Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Frankincense Essential Oil
Instructions:

Add the essential oil(s), canola oil (sweet almond, jojoba also work well) and vodka to your bottle (for this recipe, a 3 to 4.5 ounce bottle works best). Stir or shake gently, add reeds and you’re almost done.

Now the object is to get the reeds saturated with the oil to improve wicking. To do this, for the first day keep turning the reeds every few hours until they are saturated with oil. On the second day onward, the reeds should be flipped every few days.

Wash your hands after handling the oil soaked ends of the reeds.

Tips:

You can cut the reeds to shorten them if you like.

To make a larger diffuser, double the recipe.

  1. Dear goddess,

So glad this recipe works well for you. Be sure and report back on the modifications you make to it and how they work out for you. If we all do this, we can help each other.

One of these days I’m going to try this recipe using coconut oil. I love that stuff.

  2. Information on this site is deeply flawed. Canola oil blended with the wonderful frankincense………………..your site is not to be trusted. Canola is a poisonous made up oil whose proper name is rapeseed.

    Shame on you.

    1. Hello goddess,

Please note that the recipe uses canola oil in a reed diffuser and not as something to be ingested. Also note that we state “Wash your hands after handling the oil soaked ends of the reeds.”

Canola oil is never recommended on this site as a desirable oil to ingest. If we did, we should indeed have our hands slapped. That said, it’s important to note that the erucic acid (the toxin) in canola oil has been almost completely replaced with oleic acid. The Mayo clinic gives canola oil a thumbs up as a safe oil for cooking. There’s also commentary on Snopes that you might want to read.

There has been a lot of recent and scary misinformation about canola oil flying around the internet. Anything you read should be scrutinized carefully from reliable sources and based on totally boring scientific research. That’s the way we do things here at spafromscratch.

However, we are human and despite every effort, we may occasionally make an error. We encourage all the gods and goddesses reading our posts to be sure and let us know if this happens and we will immediately correct our mistake.

We appreciate your comment since it gives us an opportunity to respond to anyone else who may have read the same information that you did.

      We love you
