Really Good and Really Quick Stress Relief Techniques

Hurry up and relax will you? Come on, get with the program. I want you to relax right now because we don’t have all day. I’m looking at my watch right now and you’ve got exactly 35 seconds to relax. Got it?

Sounds really stupid when you read it doesn’t it? Yet, that attitude is exactly what’s going on about everything pertaining to our health. The insanity of the American pace is driving us to psychiatrists (for those that can afford them) and cardiologists.

Okay, I give in. You want quick stress relief techniques and you want them right now!! Well, here are 6 stress relief techniques that take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour. They’re simple and easy. Following that are two more stress relief techniques that require a little more effort. Not much effort, so don’t worry.

Stress relief technique 1

You’re at work (home or office) and you feel stressed. Find a quiet place. The restroom works well. Close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose counting 7 as you breathe in. Hold your breath for a count of 7 and exhale through your mouth for a count of 7. Do this at least 4 times. You should feel much more relaxed afterwards. If not, continue the deep breathing until you do. (Time: 5 – 10 minutes)

Stress relief technique 2

If possible, take a walk in a park or anywhere with a serene setting. (Time: 15 minutes minimum)

Stress relief technique 3

Dig around in your yard, plant something, or clip flowers. Gardening is amazingly relaxing. (Time: 20 minutes or more)

Stress relief technique 4

Visit a spa and get a massage. A good masseuse will work the knots out of those tight neck and shoulder muscles in no time. (Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour)

Stress relief technique 5

Take a soothing bath. You won’t believe how good that will make you feel. If you add scented Dead Sea bath salts to your bath water, that’s even better. Want to know how to prepare a relaxing bath? Click here. (Time 30 minutes)

Stress relief technique 6

Visit your local coffee shop alone and sit outside or in one of their soft cushy chairs with your beverage. Drink tea or a fruit beverage. Just say no to the double shots. If possible, plan your visit when there are fewer customers. (That cuts down on the noise.)

Stress relief technique 7

This takes place at home. Turn off the phone and dim the lights. Turn on your favorite soothing music. Sit quietly or stretch out on your bed, close your eyes and breathe following technique 1. You might want to place a hot pad behind your back or neck (make sure you don’t go to sleep with the pad on). To avoid this problem, you can add rice to a sock or baggie, heat it in the microwave and use that. The sock or baggie works fine in a chair, but is too lumpy if you’re lying down. You might also try a nice warm foot bath, particularly if you’ve been on your feet all day.

Stress relief technique 8

This takes place at home. Have a spa day. Check out how by clicking here.

Stress relief technique 9

This takes place at work (outside the home). If possible, turn off the phone. Use headphones to pipe in soothing music. Use microwavable heating pad to relieve tight neck, shoulder and lower back muscles. Brew a cup of chamomile or passion flower tea.

A foot bath would be nice, but oh how your coworkers would talk and no telling what the boss would say.

There are numerous all natural stress relief techniques not mentioned here. Explore what works best for you. Just make sure you implement a way to relax because constantly being in a state of stress is very bad for your health. Now hurry up. You’ve got 32 seconds to decide what you’re going to do.

Now go have fun and relax.

  1. Hello
How about cloud watching. It Works really well on stressed people. It might take some extra time and it is not possible to do it on a rainy day, but in case the weather is fine, it is worth to try.
    Best Regards

    1. Hi Ursula,

      Thanks for the great suggestion.
Clouds are also fun to watch when you look for the pictures in them. I used to do that a lot when my kids were small.
