Lavender Homemade Lotion Recipe:
Supplies:
4 (4 oz) or 2 (8 oz) glass jars
Blender or food processor
2 cup measuring cup (microwave safe)
Ingredients:
1 cup of aloe vera gel
1 teaspoon of pure vitamin E oil
1/3 cup of coconut oil
1/2 ounce of beeswax
3/4 cup of almond oil
Up to 1 ½ teaspoons of lavender essential oil
Lavender mica powder (cosmetic grade) for color. Optional
Place aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil in a blender or food processor. Place coconut oil and beeswax in a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup, microwave on high for 30 second and stir. Repeat in ten second blocks until fully melted (You can also heat by using a hot water bath).
Stir in almond oil, reheating if necessary. Run blender at low to medium speed, and then pour in melted oils in a thin stream. As the oils are blended in, the cream will turn white. As soon as you have a mayonnaise-like consistency, stop motor, add essential oils and mica (start with ¼ tsp) pulse blend. Do not over blend.
Transfer cream to glass jars while still warm because it thickens quickly. I use 4 oz decorative jelly jars. They are perfect as gifts, or as an addition to a spa gift basket.
In this homemade lotion recipe we used lavender essential oil, not just for its benefits for the skin, but for its fragrance. In aromatherapy, lavender essential oil is noted for its ability to relieve stress and anxiety and improve mood. You can create your own custom homemade lotion recipe by just changing the essential oil and color.
Now go have fun and relax.
